L2/L3: Monitoring and reviewing performance during placement

The quality of the placement as a learning activity is also dependent on an informal (and if the placement allows a formal mid-placement) check-in to discuss how you think your student is faring as they work to learn. Peformance Review will be continuous throughout a student’s placement, but not all placements warrant a mid-placement performance review check in. Often and end-placement review may only be formally required.

Making informed judgements about a student’s performance on placement can be achieved through formal criteria. Our Performance Review Process may assist you and your partnering HEI in supports your students learning and development journey [1]

L2/L3: Mid- and end-placement – check-in on student’s progress and review of student performance.

Suggested Action Mid-Review: Review, discuss, monitor and provide feedback on your student’s level of performance at the half-way point of the placement.
Suggested Action End-Review: Review, discuss, monitor and provide feedback on your student’s level of performance at the end-point of the placement.
Documents: See “Performance Review Template” for completion and refer back to the completed “Expectation Setting Grid” document that you filled out at the start of the placement (step 1).
